Chincoteague is the place to be fishing for flounder. Even the novice tourist are catching ole flattie. Roughly around all the bridges have been hot spots using jumbo minnows married up with GULP swimming mullet or silversides or scented squid (either peeler or bloodworm scent). Croaker, whiting/kingfish & pompanos round out the smaller catches that will be great for your fish tacos. The Canal, the Chincoteague Bay and near the Inlet are grounds where you’ll find these panfish. Any artificials - bloods- or the real McCoy -,live bloods will fill your coolers. Inshore Coastals sharks another addictive catch outside the Inlet east to 2TL/ the bell buoy/Turners Lump. Mackerel or bunker - cut bait will get your adrenaline rushing when these 4-6’ fighters hits your line. Good eating too.

Surf having some great catches with reds, sharks n panfish.

Speaking of reds - we registered 2 citations for red drum. Renee Ramirez from Mansfield, Ohio, caught a 48” & Greg Arcuri, from Scott Township, PA, caught a 51” n both were released.

The real place to be for flounder are the SubwaY Cars aka Blackfish Banks artificial reef. It is hotter than love out there with each angler catching their limits of 4 each. To sweeten the trip keeper sea bass are also being thrown in the coolers. Offshore - well, you’ve really got to go - OFFSHORE. Popular species are being caught to the north of our fishing grounds closer to Ocean City than Chincoteague. On a final note - crabbing. Still abundant - meaty and a fun day catching.
