Weather played a big part this week, with all the high winds the bite slowed down. On less windy days, the Chincoteague Channel to the Assateague Channel seeing some action with a few Croaker & KingFish using live Bloodworms & artificials such as GULP bloods & Fishbites . Flounder a challenge with seabed being stirred up from gusty winds although a few were caught. Anglers reported best baits to attract them in the murky waters was minnows pair with bright colored Gulp , Silversides and squid using a Tatum rig with Mylar buck tails to provide as much ‘flash’ as possible in the cloudy water. Rylyn Bird, age 9, of Chincoteague Island, snagged a crab pot in front of Toms Cove Campground. After pulling in to remove his line he found a juvenile TauTog in the pot. Assateague Island (Surf/Beach) still hot for anglers with Striper that thrive in rough waters, and Black Drum & red drum as well as sharks. Cut bait, bunker, mackerel, smelt and clams & peelers are popular surf baits. Pictured - Isaac Mattern from Western PA. kicks off Memorial day weekend with his first flounder ever!
