Flounder are everywhere you drop a line. Although the hottest spot is both sides of the Queen Sound Bridge. People fishing from the piers all around the island are pulling up nice keepers above 20”. Jumbo minnows paired with GULP artificial baits are the most popular tease followed by silversides and either peeler or bloodworm scented squid strips. Croakers near Curtis Merritt Harbor west to Buoys 21 using either live bloods or artificial bloods, GULP Bloodworms or FishBites fake bloods. Same baits to get those whiting/Kingfish that are hanging out at Buoys 13, 12 & 11. From that point East you’re in shark territory- inshore Coastals (Finetooth, bonnethead, Atlantic Sharpnose, baby hammers) - bunker, mackerel or clam/bunker chum for their dinner to get one in your boat (cuz most won’t fit in average cooler - so be careful, they thrash around n snap). The surf is hot as well - with same mix of possibilities. The subway cars/box cars/artificial reef -Blackfish Banks turning on with awesome catches of Flounder and Black Sea Bass. Offshore Yellowfin, skip jacks, Mahi-mahi & Cobia.

Crabbing is off the chain- heavy & abundant. Roy Crain, from Toano, VA, took first place in our Kids Kingfish Tournament, weighing in a 1 pound whiting worth $250.00. There is still good in this world. From the heart of a child, Roy shared $50 of his winnings with the runner up, Carly Cohee, who fished daily & placed 2nd & 3rd.
