(report submitted by Tiffany Bird & Donna Roeske-m{gallery}September 27{mostly Tiff:)Listen up all you great anglers, I have enticing news from the water. We have been seeing warmer days & less winds now, so the fish are on the move looking for a bite to eat.

Let’s start over at Queen Sound - keeper flounder (in 17.5” range) are being caught using white gulp or white squid scented with peeler crab paired with jumbo minnows (and man, do we have some BEAUTIFUL JUMBO minnows). A few inshore coastal shark 🦈using Mackerel and Bunker were reported being caught north of the Queen Sound bridge as well. Moving to the Chincoteague Channel in front of Peyton Place Dock, a nice 20” Speckled Trout was caught using a jig n Fishbites Bob’s Your Uncle Twistertail. Also in the Chincoteague Channel near the Town Pier and in the Assateague Channel reports of Croaker, Spot , Black Sea Bass still lingering and in the evening puffer fish out front of Toms Cove Pier using live Blood Worms, Scented Bloods and Shrimp. Also near the bridge in the Assateague Channel - get you a spec rig, tip it with a grub and reel in some nice Specks. Beach/ Surf is still seeing action with Drum and early small Rock using cut bait - Spot, Clams & peelers. Throw in the mix the regulars - dogfish, skate & a few inshore coastal sharks. Not a boring day on the surf! The artificial reef, Blackfish Bank/ Subway Cars - customers are reporting 18-21” Flounder AND a 51”Red Drum while Jigging. With reports from anxious anglers, it has been very windy out by the Parking Lot due to those perimeter winds from the couple of hurricanes that was passing Bermuda moving northbound to Nova Scotia. They still ventured out to the Lumpy Bottom & the Almo wreck, foolishly battling 6-8foot waves, 2.8 seconds apart . On a flatter morning & trying again, they filled the cooler with 13 - 15” Black Sea Bass biting on everything from Clams & Mullet to Squid.

Don’t forget to save a cooler for the nice heavy , sweet Crabs you want to take home. So load up your fishing/crabbing gear, hitch up the boat & get on the road to Chincoteague. See you guys this weekend and we will try to save you some fish. LOL!!
