Fishing is awesome - EVERYWHERE!! Any channel, creek, honey hole or reef - cast a line with a jumbo minnow, fake bait or squid and you will catch a flounder. Even the yo- yo’s, as Capt. Bob (God rest his soul) used to say, are catching fish. But not only are flounder abundant but kingfish/whiting, perch, spot, sheepshead, puffers, ribbonfish and sharks are making fishermen and women thrilled - not only to be filling their coolers but to enjoy a day on the water. Blackfish Banks artificial reef also ‘hotter than love’ with anglers maxing out on flounder in a hour then turning their efforts to bass, Cobia, triggers, sheepshead & spadefish. Most of these use small hooks n will bite on cut up squid or clams. Further offshore at the Lumpy Bottom anglers have been chunking for yellowfin tuna and some had good luck landing nice sized cobia. Further out near the Canyons I heard Golden tilefish being caught. The Marine Electric and The Barge wrecks going crazy with huge sea bass. Inshore closer to 5 miles outside the Inlet the shark action is phenomenal. On the surf- almost identical action with the smaller panfish, Finetooth sharks, dogfish and rays. Equally as popular with the tourist has been crabbing where dozens are being caught in the 8” range. This is truly the best year for fishing and crabbing we have seen in over 7-8 years. Thank you, Jesus!!
